Family Brunch Jan 31_10

These shots turned out really well and I think I am finally getting "the hang" of film. The depth of field in a few of these shots really taught me a lot about F-stops. I was using the expired Agfa iso 200 film and it was about 1pm with an overcast day outside. This provided some soft light coming in our big window in the living room. The f-stop was fairly low and this created a very nice depth of field on these portraits. Sadly the expired Agfa film is showing a rainbow line in these shots and looks to be consistent across rolls. In the future I will most likely use this film for B&W shoots, converting the color to B&W in picasa. Also I think its safe to say that the quality of these shots would have been hard to capture in natural light with a digital point and shoot.

Cars B&W at 1000 pixels

I decided to upload a few of my car pics in black and white. I also found an easy way to resize the images so they should play well with most people's screen size, which I am assuming these days is 1024x768 or higher on average, so I resized these pics to 1000 pixels. Most of my other pics are quite big and that was bugging me so this should fix that.

First Fisheye Roll

Got the first fisheye shots back. All in all it they turned out ok. The Lomography fisheye camera I would sum up as a fun snapshot camera. Which I really don't have any issues with but I prefer a camera with more controls, like my antique Canons. Below are the best shots from that roll and were shot on 400 iso Lomography brand film that we picked up from Urban Outfitters in Hogtown.

Car graveyard on film

Here are 11 shots from the expired 06/06 Agfa 200 iso film I bought at Reade's for 2 bucks. This was also my first roll on the 1974 Canon I bought. It was a cloudy day so the pics are not very bright but they turned out good. Also most of them have a weird line that runs across the top third of the picture. Not sure why but I guess that is to be expected with expired film on a 36 year old camera. All of these shots have zero edits and no color correction from processing. What I shot is what you see. I think the 200 iso needs more light.

Car Graveyard Found!

Edward and I talked to an Auto Wrecker in London and we told him we were looking for old cars to photograph. He sent us on a bit of a wild goose chase to an auto wrecker near Melbourne Ontario google maps failed us but when we asked a local he directed us to the place. It was filled with old cars as you can see from the pics below! I shot a roll of film there too which I will have back soon. We didn't get a chance to actually go into the place because in true country fashion the place was deserted. So we just walked in the farmer's field next to it and took a few pics.

Picked up two more cameras! A octo-camera, takes eight tiny shots over 2 seconds, and a purple fisheye for my wife she really digs it.

Sprocket hole exposure scans.

It appears that my lab will do sprocket hole exposure scans to disk now. I had a bit of a time getting them to understand what I was trying to do last time around. It looks like they created a custom mask for my scans as you can see some paper tears on the edges of the below pics. Well I am happy with the results crude as they may look. Although refined and precise is not the look I am going for anyway so its all good.

I mistakenly told the lab that this roll was sprocket hole exposures. The effect is kinda cool even though I thought i was getting normal prints back.

Taken on a 1969 Canon TX. Kodak Ultramax 400 film. scan was resized in Paint.
